Egypt’s Gift

As this trip winds down, I can start to reflect on the many experiences that I had over these past two weeks.  When Devin and I first started talking about where to go this summer for vacation, we floated the idea of Egypt.  Growing up, everyone studies pharaohs, pyramids, and the Nile in their social studies courses, so naturally we had an inkling to see these things for ourselves.  We ended up traveling around the country from upper Egypt to Alexandria and Cairo to the Sinai Peninsula to experience what this country has to offer.

While we had an excellent time, I do not think we were fully prepared for the onslaught we encountered by people attempting to make a quick pound.  This made the trip a little less enjoyable because we both had our moments of having to cross to the dark side in order to not be taken advantage of.  However, the unknown is always what makes traveling exciting.  Of course, we’ve started talking about our next trip so stay tuned!

  1. I cannot wait to catch up with you about all that is Egypt. It is definitely not “travel light”. I was really taken back by the place despite having been all over the world.

I hope you got to the museum and tried the wonderful flat bread. Pigeon is highly recommended as well as it is an experience.

    See you soon.
