This traditional fish dinner prepared by village members was extremely special. The group dined in the Kassiesbaai community house within the fishing village if Arniston, South Africa. We were greeted with a welcome song by the women who prepared the meal before dining by candlelight.
We first enjoyed a split-pea soup starter, followed by a pickled-esque onion in a honey-mustard like sauce. We then settled in for the main course consisting of fried yellow fin tuna, potato casserole, and salad. The filet of fish was one of the best I have ever tasted; the flavor of the tuna was fresh and light.
We finished the meal with a bread pudding.
This once in a lifetime experience is a must when visiting the Western Cape in South Africa.
