Taste of Franschhoek: Cafe Traumerei
During our adventures through the Western Cape, we stopped in a quaint Huguenot village to stretch our legs and eat lunch. A small group of us settled on Cafe Traumerei and I settled on the Bobotie. Bobotie is a traditional South African dish comprised of spiced minced meat and raisins with an egg baked on top. It was accompanied with sliced bananas, saffron rice, and a chutney.

While in Franschhoek, of course we did like the locals and enjoyed some of the fine wines produced in the region while avoiding the winter rains.

Will this vegetarian have to bring her peanut butter again for our SA travels? The food looks lovely. We are planning to stay a night or two in Franschoek at a vineyard. How/what are the food costs…expensive?
There are more veggie options here, but I’d still bring my peanut butter. The food is cheap. I think I paid less than $10 USD for this meal with a glass of wine. The town is scenic too!
